CAR HIRE EXTENSION: CHANGE OF RISK CARRIER
Leigh Insurance continues to be privileged to attend to the insurance risk needs of our many clients, some since 1967.
To this end and to honor our intention to do business differently, we are always open to superior short term insurance products with wider covers, advantageous extensions and versatile excess options.
This letter serves to confirm that, over many years, we have developed a relationship with Royal Administrators who have assisted many of our clients with their car hire needs over the past decade. Due to the higher volume of motor vehicle claims experienced over the past few years, Royal Administrators requested a 40% increase in monthly car hire premiums.
We approached the market and are pleased to advise we have managed to place the current car hire facility with Empire Fleet Services and retain the same monthly premiums.
Due to the market changes, we will no longer be able to include the nil excess and fuel deposit extension.
The new Fuel Deposit, which is refundable and Excess structure with Empire Fleet on the rental vehicle will be as follows:
- Car Rental Deposit: R2 000 – R2 600
- Minimum First Excess: R4 500
- Age Excess: Additional R4 500 (Under 21 years or licence for less than 2 years)
We are also pleased to advise, together with the current 30- and 45-day offerings, we will also be able to offer a 60-day Car Hire option.

These changes will be effective from 1st September 2023.
Whilst car hire has proved to be beneficial in time of need, this cover can be removed from your policy at any stage.
